A number of scientists now believe that they, rather than philosophers, can answer traditionally philosophical questions. Often these scientists are dismissive of philosophy, characterizing it as a waste of time. In this talk I will focus on several philosophical problems that scientists have begun to investigate: free will, consciousness, and happiness. I will explain why they cannot hope to make progress on these issues without the assistance of philosophy.
