Theoretical philosophy

Research in this area focuses on the activity of thought in its genesis, development and articulation, paying particular attention to the structuring of concepts and the various forms of experience, and attending to their scientific, practical, vital and behavioural aspects.

The main lines of theoretical research pursued in the Department include:

  • Epistemology, with a specific focus on modern and contemporary philosophy
  • Phenomenology and psychology
  • Philosophical logic and philosophy of language
  • Contemporary thought in its semiotic, semantic and pragmatic structures
  • Philosophical biology and ethical reflection
  • Forms of existence and conceptions of humanity
  • Metaphysics and ontology
  • Hermeneutics and philosophy of religion
