Research topics

The group’s research interests encompass the following topics:

• Motor and attentional processes in individual and social contexts and within and across different sensory modalities (vision, hearing, touch):

     -- spatial compatibility and Simon effect;

     -- interaction between emotions and gaze orientation

     -- affordance effect and use of objects

• embodied and grounded perspective of cognition:

     -- processing and representation of concepts

     -- interaction between high-level cognitive processes (language processing and numerical cognition) and motor processes;

• interaction of high-level cognitive processes and perceptual processes;
• interaction between cognitive and affective processes in visual perception;
• Integration of cognitive and artificial models of the world (grounded world models) also through extended reality (XR)

Aims

Our research aim is the development of scientific knowledge on the cognitive processes of human beings and their interactions through a series of different research methods. Results are disseminated through the publication of scientific manuscripts in national and international journals and presented at national and international conferences. The research group contributes to several national and international projects, collaborating with other research groups both in Italy and abroad. Our work is supported by national and international funding bodies.

The group organizes research meetings monthly for the presentation and discussion of research data.
