The history of philosophy as political philosophy: International cooperation for innovative didactics

BANDO STRUTTURE 2021 (fine attività 31/12/2023)

Coordinator - Prof. Filippo Del Lucchese

Abstract

The aim of this project is to compare methodological practices developed in different academic traditions in order to elaborate innovative didactic interventions. The hypothesis that will guide our reflection concerns the History of Philosophy understood as Political Philosophy: how is the practice of philosophical historiography at the same time a philosophical-political practice? Rooted in the Italian historicist tradition and, in a different way, in the continental one (especially in France and Germany), this idea is traditionally a minority one, although not absent, in the Anglo-American context, dominated by the analytical approach. The McGill research group invited to participate in this project has, in recent years, enhanced the continental approach. It has also enriched it with original theoretical insights and put it to use with highly innovative methodologies, both in research and in teaching. This project intends to compare different didactic approaches and enrich them mutually, with a strong emphasis on theoretical practice and its direct experimentation.
